into the new year

wired

Our wired all-nighter on New Year's Eve is cancelled. An all-nighter is the kind of activity that needs a certain critical mass of participants to be fun for everyone and we simply did not achieve that number. I think a lot of you have plans to be visiting family and friends - I hope you have a fantastic time! If you have already paid, I am pretty sure that none of your checks have been deposited. My first full day back will be on the 31st, so if you need your cash or check back we can easily handle it then. Please let me know if you have any questions.

wired will resume on January 8th at 6:30. I look forward to seeing you then!

Whoa! It's December!

So it doesn't seem like it has been a long time since I last posted on this little beasty, but I guess it has. Time flies when you are having fun. Here are some things to note for the month of December:

the shop

LOG Retreat is this weekend. By now, I reckon you know that and know that you are going. Persuant to LOG weekend, we do not have our regularly scheduled shop meeting on the 10th...it is small group night. The ladies are meeting on Thursday, although there seems to be some confusion about which Thursday...we'll chat with Amanda and get that thing figured out. The guys are going to meet at the church at 4:30 on Sunday the 17th to watch eat pizza and watch a movie (tbd). Take the night of Sunday the 10th off.

wired

wired local mission project: Thursday, December 21 from 3:30-7:30. Look for details tonight at wired.

all-nighter on New Year's Eve! Please sign-up by returning the form passed out last week or by e-mailing me by December 19. Cost $15. From 9:00pm to 9:00am. It will be spectacularly good times.

The Plan for Novemberbash

Yo wired folks.  There is still time to register for Novemberbash if you would like to go (and you know you do).  See the links a couple posts down for the registration form.

For those of you all ready to rock, here is the plan:  Meet at the church parking lot at 4:00 on Friday.  We will head to the Union Hotel for some awesome pizza (please bring $5 cash) and then pull into the Woods.  On Sunday, we should be back by about 2:30-2:45.  Phones will be available to your wired child if they need to make a call.

Also, if you need to fill out a form for the Woods (if you have not already attended a camp there this calendar year) please ensure that you send that with your child…otherwise, they probably won’t get in.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

the shop small group night

Remember shop-type peoples: we are not meeting altogether this Sunday: it is the shop small group night. Here's the plan:Ladies:
Monday, October 30th at Pastor Amanda's house at 5:30 for pizza, desserts and games. All you need to bring is yourself. If you have any questions contact Amanda at 892-1314.

Gents:
Meet at the church on Sunday at 6:30 to head to Q-zar and perhaps In-n-Out.  Games are approximately $6, plan appropriately.  Will return to church by 9:00.

Update

Greetings! The wired trip to Scandia (and In-n-Out) was a massive success. Our 19 wired folks had a great time...we missed those of you who weren't there. Thank you to all the adults who volunteered to help lead our trip - you are great!

Also, wired folks --> Novemberbash at Westminster Woods! Forms are due at the church tonight at wired, along with your check made to Westminster Woods. If you need the form, please go to Westminster Woods Registration Form. Scholarships available if you request them pronto. November 3-5...don't miss it!

the shop small group night
is the 29th. We will not be meeting as a large group that night, but will get together with our small groups for an adventure somewhere in the greater Bay Area. Look for more info at the shop!

Finally, I have been hornswaggled into being a last minute replacement on the Juarez trip. Therefore, I will be out of the office and "off the grid" Wednesday through Saturday...I know you're bummed. Don't fret...I'll be back for the shop and wired.

cheers

An old friend

Our good ol' friend (and recent San Marin graduate) Jess Bousquette has started a blog detailing her faith experiences in college down in San Diego. I encourage you to stop on by and give it a perousal.

A link is under 'other stuff' and you can also get to it by clicking here. Sorry, this link is temporarily being a pain in the neck. Will get it fixed soon.

Novemberbash!

Hey wired types! Novemberbash at Westminster Woods is upon us! What better way to start off your November than to escape for a God-filled and action-packed weekend at the Woods?!? Last year we had 20 middle school personas go and I will go out on a limb and say that y'all had a pretty darn good time. This year promises to be at least as great.

Registration forms are available here at the church or you can click this link to get your Westminster Woods Registration Form. Scholarships available upon request. Please return registration and moolah to the church by the 15th so we can ensure that we all get to stay together. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to let me know.

October calendar online

A quick note to let you know that the October calendars are live and online by clicking the appropriate links under "Calendars."

Also, I will be out of town from the afternoon of the 5th to the morning of the 9th. Amanda will run the show at the shop on the 8th (and do a much better job than I do), but I will be back in the saddle for wired on the 9th.

October cometh

We have had a great September! It has been wonderful to see all of you each week as we seek to constantly and consistently live in the presence of the Lord. We are glad that you are here!

October is just around that next bend. Look for your calendars in the mail this week. Also, don't forget that the calendar is always online here on this pretty blog (note: October's calendar will not be finalized on the blog until the 28th). Remember, to sign up for any and all upcoming events all you have to do is drop me an e-mail to get the ball rolling.

I would also like to take a moment to highlight two of our links. Under Faith Resources you will see links for Sacred Space and Sacred Gateway. These are two excellent international prayer/quiet time sites that will lead you through a short contemplative prayer. Sacred Gateway is a little more slick in its presentation and a little more "Americanized", but both a great. I would encourage you to check them out and use them as a resource to guide your day with God.

May you have a blessed week and remember the needs of Christ before our own. Peace.

Good times on the Delta

the shop houseboat trip was a great success! We had a fabulous time hanging out on the houseboats, barbequing, water skiing, wakeboarding, and banana tube riding. We even caught a semi-immobile catfish with our bare hands...good times. New friendships were made, old ones renewed, and we got a little closer to Christ in community. Hope to see you there next year! the shop continue this Sunday the 24th from 7:00-9:00. Slide on down to the Bungalow at 7:00.

One Life Revolution

It was great to see so many of you at the shop & wired! We are starting off the year right, and I hope that we go through this first season of our wired and the shop year together that we will keep thinking about what it means to live in radical community and put God's needs before our own and the needs of others before filling our own desires.

One opportunity to put the needs of God and of others before our own needs is to join with us in One Life Revolution. If we each contribute $5 a week every week we meet we will be able to equip, train, and supply a whole village in sustainable farming practices so that those that are living through the impact of the AIDS crisis can provide food for themselves and their brothers and sisters. To learn more about One Life Revolution and the devastating impact of AIDS in Africa, please check out the link to the right under 'mission' aptly title "One Life Revolution."

High school folks: there is still time to go on the houseboat trip this weekend. Drop me an e-mail using the link at right. no shop this Sunday because we are on the houseboat trip.

cheers

We will be going with our homies at Good Shepherd and meeting there (1180 Lynwood) at 3:45 on Friday the 15th and returning on Sunday at about 2:30...which means that there is plenty of time to do your homework, my stressed out friends. If the departure time is an issue, let me know and we will work it out. Cost: freshman - $80, other folks - $90. All inclusive: transportation, food, water skiing, tubing, hanging out…everything. wired

We are back in action on September 11th at 6:30 with a fabulous pizza dinner! wired is the place to be on Monday nights! We will have a spectacular dinner, hang out, play some really sweet games, and get some insight into who this Jesus guy is that we hear so much about. Everyone is always welcome, so invite your friends! There will always be something new and exciting going on at wired, so you will want to make sure that you come to see what will happen next! See you Monday night @ 6:30!
